Suitable for all small biopsies for Histology. Contains formaldehyde so is NOT suitable for specimens for bacteriological examination.
Faecal samples for: BacterialCulture,Clostridium Difficile Toxin,Occult Blood, Parasites, Porphyrins, Reducing Substances, Rotavirus, Virus Culture.
For CSF samples (plain).
For fluids for Cytology (plain).
Suitable for Mycology samples, Sputum for Cytology,Microbiology & TB and Fluids for Microbiology & Biochemistry. (Fluids for Cytology must be submitted in a Universal container with citrate anticoagulant.)

Contains antibiotics so is not suitable for swabs for bacteriological examination. Use for Swabs, Tissue, Crusts or Skin Lesion Exudates.
Swab and bacteriological transport medium - suitable for all bacteriological examinations except pernasal swab for Whooping cough.

The current C trachomatis ELISA detection service is now replaced by a molecular assay (NAAT).
This means the new female and male specimen collection kits must be used. Please order new kits from the Royal Berkshire Hospital Pathology Issue Room in the usual way.
Specimens may be kept at room temperature over a weekend. Neisseria gonorrhoeae test can not be done using this assay.
