Eye Swab, Culture and Sensitivity, Virus and Chlamydia
For Bacteriology, the swab should be sent in 'Transwab' transport medium;
For Virology , in VIRUS transport medium
For Chlamydia a plastic or metal stemmed swab should be sent in CHLAMYDIA transport medium, using the transport kits provided.
Note: culture plates, broth enrichment medium and slides can be provided by the department for direct inoculation in the examination of scrapes of corneal ulcers - Eye Department only.
