This may be carried out at your GP surgery, or the Pathology Laboratory at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
This is a test to see how your body deals with glucose (sugar).
Your doctor will have asked you to have this done because they think there is a possibility that you may have Diabetes Mellitus.
Before you have this test you must have fasted overnight.
Please do not eat or drink anything but water from ten o’clock (22:00) the night before the test.
If you are coming to the laboratory please arrive at Pathology Reception, Level 2 South Block between 8am and 11am (Mon-Fri) with the request form that your doctor will have given you. There is no need to make an appointment.
a) be asked to make an appointment with your doctor and allowed to leave
or
b) continue with the test
Test results will be sent to your doctor within a few days.
